Holter Monitoring

A Holter monitor is a small device that is able to record heart rate and rhythm over a period of time. This period of time is determined by the referring practitioner and is usually 24 hours to 7 days. The indications for this include but not limited to; evaluation of patients with symptoms suggesting arrhythmia, reporting of time domain heart rate variability and evaluation of patient response after medical management.

Our chosen monitor is the Mortara H3+ which features three channels of continuous ECG data with a 5-lead system. The monitor also features an LCD screen and event button while still being one of the lightest and most compact monitors on the market. The device is ran on a single AAA battery and is connected via USB to computer software that allows for monitor setup and transmission of data.

Once transmitted data has been received, it is then analysed by our team of cardiac physiologists who then send this information to a cardiologist who reviews and approves the final report. This report is then promptly distributed to the clinic via their preferred method of distribution.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring

An Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor or ABPM is a non-invasive means of monitoring blood pressure levels during a 24 hour period. This monitor is able to measure the systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as the heart rate.

The monitor works by conducting BP readings in regular intervals of every 30 minutes during the day and every 60 minutes at night. This allows a range of useful information regarding a patient’s average BP over daytime and nocturnal periods of time.

Our chosen ABPM is the Hingmed WBP-02A. This monitor is lightweight and compact whilst also featuring the ability to attach to the cuff itself. The WBP-02A comes with a patented cuff that comes in a range of sizes. This monitor is charged via a USB cable and can be setup and uploaded via the provided software.

Unlike our Holter service, the ABPM does not require any input or reporting from the PulseSense team. The data is readily available for clinical use as soon as the device is uploaded to a PC. The software is designed to effectively interpret and report data, allowing for easy tracking, trending, and reporting of data.
